How the 30-day gold forecast works and where it can fail
By GoldPrice.Today · Updated · Editorial policy
The 30-day forecast is a statistical scenario generated from this site’s available data. It is not an analyst’s price target, a guaranteed outcome or a recommendation to trade.
What goes into the model
The page loads stored USD daily observations and appends the available rate snapshot. It estimates average returns and return volatility from the last 90 returns and uses a 60-observation moving average as a mean-reversion target.
At each simulated step, the model combines the average return, a pull toward that moving average and a deterministic pseudo-random term. The deterministic seed makes the scenario repeatable for the same starting date and price; it does not make it more accurate.
Check the historical date first
The latest stored history can be older than the current snapshot. Appending a current quote does not fill missing daily observations. A return across such a gap is then treated as one step by this model, which can distort its interpretation as a daily return.
The forecast page identifies the last stored historical date and its starting snapshot. If there is a substantial gap, the result deserves particular caution and should not be presented as a calibrated prediction for the next month.
The displayed band is a volatility range
The range shown beside each simulated value is calculated as 1.65 times the estimated return volatility times that value. It is a simple volatility-based amount, not a validated probability that the future price will fall inside the range.
The model does not expand the band according to the forecast horizon, incorporate scheduled economic releases or measure the chance of a market shock. A narrow-looking range therefore does not establish certainty.
Use the scenario as a model explanation
Compare its assumptions with the available history rather than treating its endpoint as a price promise. News, exchange rates and shifts in market conditions can produce outcomes outside the model. This site does not report a backtested accuracy score because none has been established for this implementation.
The forecast uses conventional statistical calculations. It does not call an AI model or receive a live analyst assessment.
